Governors
Welcome to the Governing Body of Danbury Park Community Primary School
On behalf of the Governing Body, I would like to welcome you to Danbury Park Community Primary School. Whether you are a parent of a pupil already at the school, a carer, thinking of enrolling your child at the school, or are a staff member or a local resident, we are delighted that you are taking the time to learn more about our school.
At Danbury Park, our school motto – “Be Wise, Be Happy, Belong” – captures the spirit of everything our Governing Body strives to achieve. We want all our pupils to grow into thoughtful, resilient individuals who make wise choices, find happiness in their learning and friendships, and know that they are part of a caring, inclusive school family. These values guide everything we do, and as governors, we are proud to support and champion them in our work.
The Role of the Governing Body
The Governing Body plays a vital role in the strategic leadership of the school. It is important to state that we are not involved in the day-to-day running of the school, nevertheless, our responsibilities include:
- Setting the vision and strategic direction
We help shape the long-term goals of the school and ensure that decisions reflect the values and priorities of our community. - Supporting and challenging school leaders
We work closely with the headteacher and senior leadership team to monitor progress, maintain high standards, and ensure every child reaches their full potential. - Overseeing financial performance
We ensure that public money is spent wisely and that resources are used effectively to support learning, wellbeing, and development.
Our Governing Body is made up of committed volunteers, including parents, staff, and members of the local community, each bringing a unique set of skills and experiences. What unites us is a shared dedication to the children, staff, and families who make up our vibrant school community.
Our Commitment to Community
As our name proudly reflects, community is at the heart of everything we do at Danbury Park. We believe that strong relationships between school, families, and the wider community are essential to children’s success and wellbeing.
We actively foster these connections through open communication, involvement in local events, and partnerships with other schools and organisations. Governors are also part of this network – supporting initiatives that strengthen our school’s role in Danbury and ensuring that every child feels they truly belong.
How You Can Get Involved
We are always pleased to hear from individuals who are interested in supporting our school through governance. You do not need to be an expert in education – just someone with a willingness to listen, learn, and contribute. Skills in areas such as finance, HR, project management, education, or community engagement are particularly valuable, but just as important is a genuine passion for helping children thrive.
Governors typically attend meetings once or twice per term and may also take part in school visits, committee work, and training. New governors receive full support and training, and it is a rewarding way to make a real difference in your local community.
If you are a parent or member of the local community and would like to find out more about becoming a governor, please get in touch through the school office. We are happy to talk to you about what is involved and let you know when opportunities arise.
Thank you once again for your interest. We hope you enjoy exploring our website and finding out more about our school.
